As we opened the refugee Center we realized that these children need teachers and supervision. We would like for these children to spend their time usefully.
Parents want to integrate their children back to school, which is not a simple task. We help them in the process to make it happen as soon as possible.
Until they can not learn in school, we try to teach them in the Refugee Center!
The Dorkász Camp always was a kid-friendly place, it used to be a place for excursions and summer camps. The 5 acre forest area is a perfect place to be a temporary home for the refugee children. They can play football, pingpong and table football in the area.
For the parents it is very important to have the oportunity to manage their papers, so it is a great help when their children are supervised.
This week we started the learning. Every day there is a different subject which is held by volunteering teachers.
This week they had the following subjects:
- Monday: Sports and games
- Tuesday: Sports and games
English
- Wednesday: Creative occupation
- Thursday: Astronomy, Physics
The children are in mixed age group so we had to separete the younger and the older kids during the English lessons.
Sports are very important in building a community. In these lessons all age groups are playing football together and playing competitive sports. They are very enthusiastic in good and bad weather also.
The morning PE class is a great opportunity to start the day fit.
The creative occupation is always a great success among the kids. For the upcoming Easter the kids decorated Easter eggs, while the parents had some free time to manage their duties. Phisics were a new area for most of the kids. They were drawing and solving interesting tasks during the lesson. We want to occupy the children reguralry and have more lessons during the weekdays.
