Projects: Elderly care

Elderly care

„I was sick and you visited me” Matthew 25:36

What is elderly care?

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to spend your everyday life alone? That no one visits you for days and you just wait for the days to pass and see if suddenly something changes? Over the years, we have visited countless elderly needy people and found that what oppresses them the most is loneliness. In our program, we not only support these needy aunts and uncles with donations, but they can keep in touch with people who value them.

Personal relationship, they like to tell stories about their lives and share their problems with others. It is important to support them regularly and let them know that they can count on us!

How Dorcas helps?

As with our other projects, we are also connected to the work of local churches and partner organizations. Our goal is to regularly visit elderly people living alone in difficult circumstances. With the help of our partners, beneficiaries receive aid packages of food and cleaning products several times a year. In addition to donations, it is very important that the elderly receive personal care during the visits.

We are in contact with the following settlements:

  • Dombostanya
  • Bagamér
  • Pac
  • Kokad
  • Bodaszőlő
  • Haláp

Who do we help?

The elderly who participate in our program no longer have a family member nearby who can take care of them, they are no longer able to go out and participate in events due to their health, so without the program they would be distant from the local community and would have to solve their problems alone. Our target group includes elderly people for whom daily meals and clothing are a problem and who cannot cover their expenses from their pension.

We, the employees of the Dorcas Ministries, also regularly visit our beneficiaries, and during these visits we came across many heartbreaking stories. For example, when we visited the widow Irénke Ramocsaháza, who lives alone in her neat little house of 50 m2. The 82-year-old aunt needs caregiving help, as her children cannot visit her. He must spend half of his HUF 110,000 pension on the purchase of medicines. He struggles with vascular disease and dizziness. He does everything he can for his family, he has 2 sons, and he loves his disabled grandson with special attention. Few people visit the aunt, so she welcomed us with great joy.

CURRENTLY, 103 ELDERLY NEEDY ARE UNDER OUR CARE

How can you help?

The elderly belong to the group that is most neglected by society. Most people approach them as adults, they have their own families and they help their parents. However, the situation is not so black and white. These elderly people have no one else to rely on, they cannot work because of their age, so many of them live on old-age pensions. For them, your regular support means hope in their everyday life.
