Projects: Youth camp

Summer camp for needy children

“Let the little children come to me!"

What is this camp?

Every child deserves to spend their youngest years carefree and make lifelong memories together with their peers. However, this is not given to many young people, since they have experienced from a very young age what it is like to be without it. With this camp, in addition to learning, we also want to ensure that these children with a difficult fate break away from this environment a little and experience what an average, cloudless childhood can be like.

How Dorcas helps?

In addition to recreation, our other goal is to enrich the young people participating in the camp with useful knowledge. With things that are not taught in school, however, it broadens the worldview and/or shows direction for the future. In the framework of the camp, the young people can learn more about the work of a car mechanic, including electrical installation and DIY. They can also get a glimpse of farming due to a visit to an organic farm. Beside professional knowledge, we also consider mental development to be important, so we also prepare self-knowledge tasks for the campers. We also help young people with useful advice, such as money management or finding a partner.

Who do we help?

Our target group includes boys between the ages of 14 and 18 who live in poverty and cannot afford a one-week camp. This year, we are organizing the first camp in Terény, where we are preparing countless interesting programs for teenagers.

How can you help?

These young people are now facing a career choice, now they need to be shown what lies within them and what they are capable of. This is more than a simple camp, if you support this project, you can be sure that you are promoting lifelong change!

One day's camping fee for a needy youth is HUF 10,000. With this amount, you can help them and support them in their development.

Regarding the project, the head of the Budapest office, Gábor Keleti, is at your disposal.
